Temple Court

Project

Emma and Mark bought Temple Court, a grand Edwardian Italianate villa set in landscaped gardens, in March 2024 and undertook a full renovation. Part of that work was to relocate the kitchen to the front so the room connects to the outlook and to the garden. The room had not been a kitchen before, so our interior design team’s layout advice focused on flow to the drawing room and the garden, ensuring the new space feels naturally part of the house.

They visited our showroom twice, first with Mo in May 2024 to explore ideas, then with Holly in January 2025 to finalise the plan. In the showroom, Emma and Mark were drawn to our English Heritage range and described it as stunning, which they felt was right for their home.

For colour and materials, we aimed for a calm palette that sits easily with the architecture and balances warm and cool notes. The cabinetry on the back wall is painted in Farrow & Ball Old White, a soft grey-green that shifts with the light at the front of the house. The fridge run in Farrow & Ball Selvedge introduces a relaxed denim blue that adds depth without feeling heavy.

A custom dark-stained island anchors the room and ties into the timber stools. Brushed satin brass handles with antique brass hinges echo the warm veining of the Cimstone Calacatta Mystic worktops and splashback, so the metals and stone read as one family. The result is a considered mix of gentle green-grey and blue for freshness, natural wood for weight, and warm metal and stone that link everything together.

Appliances were sourced through us, including an ILVE Milano range cooker.

The plan includes a coffee and bar area with a hidden sink and drinks fridge, open worktop shelves for everyday pieces and wide drawers sized for pots and pans. These details keep surfaces clear and make the island the natural place to gather.

Day to day, the room does what it set out to do. It gives better connection to the garden, works for family time and opens up for entertaining. The island and stone are firm favourites for Emma, while Mark points to the coffee and bar zone as the feature he uses most.

If you are planning something similar, visit our showroom to see the kitchens in person and get guidance from our designers. Book an appointment and talk your project through with the team.
