Cabinet Construction

How we build your furniture

As furniture designers and cabinet makers, we’re meticulous about how we make the pieces we design for you. Our team combines traditional artisanship with specialist expertise, all of whom take pride in their craft. The furniture we build is traditional in-frame cabinetry, where the doors and drawer fronts sit within a surrounding frame for strength and classic proportion.

Hardware: Solid brass butt hinges and powerful concealed magnets set into the frame for a clean, satisfying close.

Frames & doors: Poplar — sustainable, stable, and perfect for painting — with centre panels in solid wood, not MDF.

Drawers: Solid oak, dovetailed front and back, running on Blum fully extending soft-close runners.

Carcasses: Responsibly sourced Paulownia-faced engineered hardwood — strong and elegant, with a beautiful mellow colour. Paulownia has minimal tannins, which help prevent black marks caused by moisture (a common issue with oak). It maintains its pale tone, without shifting to yellow or orange as oak can over time.

One-piece, traditionally built: Our cabinets are made in the workshop as single, traditional units—never flat-packed and pre-assembled. Unlike most companies, we do not omit the top of the cabinet just because it’s hidden under the worktop. It’s how we guarantee long-term strength and stability.

Everything we make is handmade to order — whether based on our extensive catalogue or entirely bespoke designs tailored to your project. Designed, built, and delivered in as little as 10–12 weeks.

Read our customer reviews to see why our cabinetry is renowned for exceptional craftsmanship and built to stand the test of time.

    Finishing

DSCF0046 Enhanced NR 3

The interior of our cabinets is made using Paulownia hardwood, finished with a durable, wipeable lacquer. Unlike oak, it won’t yellow or blacken with time or moisture, retaining its pale blonde tone. No on-site oiling or painting is needed, ensuring a clean, low-maintenance finish from day one.

All cabinets are available in Oak, or finished in either a high-quality undercoat (ready for you to paint) or a specialist, durable cabinet paint. Painted finishes can be matched to any Farrow & Ball or Little Greene colour—or a bespoke colour of your choice for a small charge.
