At The White Kitchen Company, we specialise in solid wood kitchens and handcrafted cabinetry for every room in the home. All of our cabinets are made from solid timber, with no MDF, MFC or chipboard used in their construction. For our painted cabinetry, carcasses are Paulownia; frames and doors are solid beech; door panels are poplar; and drawers are solid oak. Built to last, solid wood can be repainted and reconfigured over time, allowing your kitchen to be updated as your home evolves.
We also offer solid oak door fronts finished with a durable soft-sheen lacquer. Oak is naturally strong and stable, making it highly resistant to everyday knocks and scuffs while keeping the grain looking its best. This combination of painted cabinetry and natural oak adds warmth and texture, creating a relaxed, traditional look while allowing the natural grain of the timber to become part of the design.

Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets Made to Order
Our solid wood kitchen cabinets are traditionally constructed by skilled cabinet makers using proven furniture-making techniques, including mortise-and-tenon joinery and solid oak dovetailed drawers. Solid brass butt hinges are rebated into the doors and available in a choice of chrome, brass or antique brass finishes.
All of our kitchen cabinets are in-frame, with the doors set neatly within a solid timber frame rather than fitted over the front of the cabinet. Drawers are fitted with concealed soft-close runners and a quick-release mechanism for easy cleaning. Cabinets are available in standard sizes or can be made to measure for your kitchen.

Solid Wood vs MDF Kitchen Cabinets
Solid wood is not only resilient, but also remarkably versatile. Kitchen cabinets are the workhorse of any home and often one of its largest investments, so they should be built for long-term use. Unlike many composite cabinets, solid timber cabinetry can be repaired, refinished and repainted over time. This allows you to update paint colours, hardware and even elements of the layout without replacing the entire kitchen.
It is worth checking what “solid wood” really means. Some kitchens use solid timber door frames with MDF panels and wood veneered MDF, MFC or chipboard carcasses. Ours use solid timber throughout, with solid oak dovetailed drawers.
What Are Our Solid Wood Kitchens Made From?
All our doors, frames and drawers are made from solid wood. For our carcasses, we use solid Paulownia, a responsibly sourced hardwood with excellent ecological credentials. Paulownia is low in tannins, which helps reduce black marks caused by moisture (a common issue with oak). It also holds its pale tone, rather than shifting towards yellow or orange over time. As natural wood expands and contracts, our carefully selected timber choices are designed to deliver the best performance in each area and remain stable, particularly important in period homes, where higher moisture levels and breathability are part of everyday life.
Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets, Delivered Fully Assembled
All of our real wood kitchen cabinets are made in our workshop as complete furniture units, never flat-packed. There are no drawers to assemble or doors to hang; the cabinets arrive fully assembled and are simply positioned, levelled and fixed together during installation.
We offer a full design and fitting service, but you can also choose to fit your kitchen yourself. If you do, our team is on hand to provide one-to-one advice and help you plan the right kitchen for your space, guiding you through the process from start to finish.
