Cabinet Construction
How we build your furniture
As Furniture designers and cabinet makers, we are very particular about the way we make the furniture we design for you. Our team is made up of traditional artisans and experts in their chosen discipline. We have cabinet makers, furniture polishers and machinists as well as painters and fitters, all of whom take pride in the work they do! The majority of the furniture we build is the traditional in-frame style, where the doors and drawer fronts are set within a frame. The frames and doors are made from French wild cherry, a sustainable hardwood, dimensionally stable and with a smooth grain that is perfect for painting. The drawers we make are from solid oak and have a dovetailed front and back. They glide in and out on Blum fully extending soft-close runners.
Everything we make is handmade to order — whether based on our extensive catalogue or entirely bespoke designs tailored to your project. Unlike many competitors, our cabinets are traditionally built as one-piece units, not flat-packed or assembled later. We do not use MDF inside the door frames or carcasses; we use solid wood centre panels and Paulownia-faced engineered hardwood carcasses, which prevent natural movement. The interiors are lacquered for durability and easy cleaning. Unlike oak, which can develop black marks when exposed to moisture due to tannins in the wood, Paulownia contains little to no tannins, so it resists discolouration, retains its pale blonde tone, and does not yellow over time.
To complete our cabinetry, we fit solid brass butt hinges for durability and strength, along with powerful concealed magnets that securely snap the doors shut without the need for visible catches. This hidden mechanism maintains the clean lines of the design while ensuring a precise and satisfying close every time. Read our customer reviews to see why our cabinetry is renowned for exceptional craftsmanship and built to stand the test of time.
Finishing

Interiors
The interior of our cabinets is made using Paulownia hardwood, finished with a durable, wipeable lacquer. Unlike oak, it won’t yellow or blacken with time or moisture, retaining its pale blonde tone. No on-site oiling or painting is needed, ensuring a clean, low-maintenance finish from day one.

Finishes
All cabinets are available in Oak, Paulownia wood, or finished in either a high-quality undercoat (ready for you to paint) or a specialist, durable cabinet paint. Painted finishes can be matched to any Farrow & Ball or Little Greene colour—or a bespoke colour of your choice.
