The St Albans Sanctuary
Project
This St Albans renovation transformed the kitchen into a bright, organised space reflecting our client Calene’s style. The project started with a detailed home survey, measuring over 40 key dimensions to ensure every design element was a perfect fit.
Calene wanted a bright kitchen with a splash of colour. The lean-to extension, featuring a glass roof, naturally filled the room with light. We enhanced this by centring the glass induction hob and adding downdraft extraction for a sleek, functional layout. Above the hob, a granite shelf was added to display pottery, adding character without overcrowding.
The chosen colour palette played a key role in the design. Farrow & Ball’s Wimborne White for the cabinetry provided a crisp look, while the island, painted in Oval Room Blue, introduced the desired pop of colour. Warmth came from the wood-effect flooring, and brushed nickel hardware was chosen to harmonise with the Neff ovens and Quooker tap.
To keep the space clutter-free, a discreet pantry cupboard was designed to store appliances like the microwave and toaster. Bespoke cabinetry was seamlessly integrated throughout, including a double-door cupboard for extra storage and a unit concealing the oven, keeping the design clean and streamlined.
The renovation took about a year to complete, with careful attention to detail throughout.l attention paid to every detail. The result is a kitchen that fully reflects Calene’s vision and offers a practical, inviting space for everyday use.
