The ‘Bridgerton’ Kitchen
Project
The kitchen design was inspired by a classic, timeless look that harmonised with our client’s Edwardian home in rural Wales. The simple Shaker style was chosen to suit the house due to its clean lines and understated elegance, complementing the period architecture. The client’s goal was a practical kitchen with ample storage, designed to be durable while offering great value.
From the start, the client envisioned floor-to-ceiling units along the far wall for extensive storage. The design included a range cooker with drawers on either side and a charming country-style cooker surround. Positioning the sink centred under the window was essential, despite the challenges it posed during construction. A large island for food prep was also a key requirement, and the result exceeded expectations with its generous storage.
We worked closely with the client to refine the design, ensuring all details were covered. The client’s clear vision was invaluable, and the outcome was stunning.
The cabinetry, painted in Little Greene’s Dark Pearl and Ambleside, beautifully reflects the client’s love for greens and blues, shifting in tone with the light and time of day. These colours are timeless and enduring. The Silestone Quartz Calacatta Gold worktop adds a touch of luxury, while the Seville porcelain floor tiles, with their soft terracotta tone, complement the cabinets and introduce warmth to the space. The tiles’ low-maintenance nature was ideal for the busy household.
Despite being a north-facing kitchen, adding a roof lantern, windows, and large French doors flooded the space with natural light. The client opted for spotlights to provide total coverage with no dark spots, and the two pendants above the island offer practical task lighting. All lighting was dimmable, creating a soft, atmospheric ambience when needed.
The custom floor-to-ceiling bank of units houses the coffee machine and speed/microwave oven, with a larder fridge and freezer at one end and a large larder unit at the other, providing stylish and ample storage.
The chosen appliances are of the highest quality. The Rangemaster range cooker with an induction hob, Miele dishwasher, coffee machine, built-in oven, and Liebherr larder fridge and freezer are all reliable and efficient. The Perrin and Rowe pull-out tap adds practicality, while the gold radiators match antique pictures, tying the whole room together beautifully.
The client was delighted with the finished kitchen, which perfectly brought their vision to life. This dream kitchen has become the heart of their home, a place to cook and create cherished memories.
A top tip from them: Before ordering, they created a mood board of colours, fabrics, and materials to guide their decision-making, minimising the risk of costly errors.
