Clonard Way
Project
Clonard Way was designed to feel open, warm and welcoming at any time of day. Although newly built, the kitchen needed an established, lived-in feel – with the depth and detail of a much older home.
The English Heritage range matched the vision perfectly. Raised panels, delicate beading and classic proportions provided the timeless atmosphere the client wanted. The cabinetry is finished in shade #03 from our English Heritage paint collection, which complements the marble beautifully. Its subtle pink and purple veins shift with the changing daylight – a spontaneous choice after the client spotted the slab and described it as “like amethysts melting across a slab.” It’s now the room’s striking centrepiece.
At the heart of the kitchen is the expansive island, a hub for cooking with family, meals, homework and relaxed conversations over chai. An integrated down-draught hob preserves the openness, facilitating easy interaction. A Quooker tap was essential for this tea-loving family. Floor-to-ceiling bespoke cabinetry frames the space thoughtfully, housing a hidden pantry, discreet appliances, and a pantry unit specifically designed so that the children can easily help themselves to breakfast and snacks. Deep drawers offer practical storage, while open shelves above the sink maintain an airy feel without clutter.
Since moving in, the kitchen has become the home’s natural gathering spot. Friends drop by regularly, cooking and spending time together. Everyday life flows effortlessly here, with plenty of room to gather without ever feeling disconnected.
The client’s advice for others planning their kitchens is straightforward – think about how you’ll genuinely use your space. Keep cutlery and plates near the dishwasher, pots near the hob. Identify your non-negotiables early, but stay adaptable – plans inevitably evolve during a build. Ultimately, a kitchen doesn’t need to make a statement. It simply needs to support the way you live.
