Stourbridge Marble Kitchen

Project

Lloyd and Laura sought a kitchen that seamlessly blended with their Edwardian home’s historical charm. Their style is classic and traditional, and their primary objective was to create a warm and functional space where they could entertain and socialise. Our in-frame shaker-style cabinets are at the heart of this beautiful kitchen, painted in Little Greene’s Portland Stone. Delicate French milk glass pendant lights hang above the central kitchen island, casting a soft, welcoming glow, and adding elegance and grace to the kitchen.

The kitchen’s character is deeply rooted in nostalgia, with living brass fittings on cabinet knobs, thumb latches, and Perrin & Rowe taps. Over time, these brass finishes will develop a beautiful patina. A Shaws Ribchester butler sink takes centre stage, epitomising classic design and becoming the focal point. Arabescato marble adorns the worktops, backsplashes, and a shelf above the sink, showcasing antiques and stylish items, and adding an extra layer of luxury to the kitchen. The central island is a hub of activity, combining seating and a bank of drawers with custom oak chopping boards. The hob finds its place at the heart of the island and concerns about ventilation and extraction were elegantly solved with a sleek Bora hob featuring a built-in extraction unit, allowing the kitchen to retain its clean, uncluttered design. To the East of the kitchen, a full-height bank of cupboards creates a sleek wall, housing a double oven and cleverly placed behind a grand ceiling cornice, giving the appearance that it has always been there.

Lloyd and Laura desired a kitchen that would evolve and adapt alongside their family. They opted for a hand-painted finish, which not only allows them to easily touch up any areas that might be damaged by the children’s toys but also provides the freedom to change the kitchen’s colour in the future.

Lloyd mentioned, “We found TWKC online while searching for in-frame kitchen suppliers and were drawn to the product’s aesthetics. The online store allowed us to estimate the cost and options. Gianluca efficiently accommodated our design adaptations, and the quotation process was smooth. Kate, our project manager, expertly coordinated delivery and kept us informed. The delivery was punctual, and all the cupboards were pre-built and excellently packaged. Due to delays with our home extensions, we stored the kitchen for a few months. When the time arrived for installation, we were delighted with the unit’s quality and relieved to find no signs of damage to any components. To save on installation expenses, we hired our own joiner to install the kitchen. Our chosen joiner had experience with kitchen installations, making the process relatively simple. For the painting, we opted for primed kitchen components and hand-painted them ourselves. Laura and I developed an efficient system and managed to finish it in just one week with the help of some paint racks from our joiner.”
