Project
Located in a part of an 1820 stone house, this fantastic property oozes character, period living, and a country lifestyle. This unique and inspiring rural kitchen has been carefully designed by our expert team, alongside the homeowners, David and Stella, to perfectly create a space that takes your breath away.
David and Stella embarked on a project that would take over 8 months to finish. In the beginning, they decided it needed a complete overall layout and design. The kitchen was originally separated from a drawing room, which gave limited space in both. After opening the space and removing the ceiling, they decided the best option for light and appearance was a Velux skylight in the vaulted ceiling. The room is now open plan with a breakout lounge area, raised office, and ample kitchen space.
After a visit to our showroom, they decided they needed a timeless, classic look and chose our Shaker-style cabinetry. With all the natural light the kitchen would now have, this opened the choices for colours. Finally deciding on a two-tone design, they landed on Farrow and Ball for their colours. The wall cabinets are Purbeck Stone, a clean and understated mid-grey. The kitchen island is Inchyra Blue, an aged blue-grey tone that is popular in most Georgian or Victorian kitchens. To finish off the units, natural granite work surfaces were used throughout.
The space was beautifully finished with a mixture of classic and new appliances, fixtures, and accessories. A stunningly restored white Aga was used on the back wall which, combined with the mid-grey cabinetry, really complement each other. Bora’s new X Pure vented hob was a must for the owners as it takes away the need for an extractor meaning its placement on the island is practical and balanced. The natural wooden beams and staircase, large floor tiles, and rustic split-face mosaic tiles finish the room off perfectly.
