Sydenham Fusion Kitchen

Project

Lucy and Dickon were after the perfect balance of traditional and modern for their Victorian flat extension. So the kitchen needed to be just right. Just enough period style to make it feel in keeping with the property’s age, not so much it would feel out of harmony with the newly built extension. So when they stumbled upon our Fusion style, the kitchen hunt was over.

The main kitchen run – painted in Farrow & Ball’s honey-hued Matchstick – features integrated fridge, bin and dishwasher housing to keep a streamlined look while packing in the storage with spacious drawers. The wall cabinets, and tall larder units on either side of the antique Biedermeier sofa, were painted in Farrow & Ball’s Pointing to match the walls. This allowed the main kitchen run, with its striking calacatta viola marble work surface and backsplash, to take centre stage.

The unlacquered brass Quooker tap and pot rail – were made in a living finish so they aged/patinated with use. The cream cooker is from Lacanche, and a Fisher and Paykel extractor is hidden behind a plastered hood surround for a contemporary finish.

The kitchen, accessed by an archway, is framed with bold blue and red kitchen doors leading to a hidden internal courtyard; a real secret garden space that has become the heart of the home. The dining table is made from the same marble as the worktops, with a vintage pedestal base – details that add character to their new space and a little ‘Lucy Williams’ style. Working with Lucy on her stylish kitchen was a real pleasure, and receiving a lovely review is always nice.

“We couldn’t recommend The White Kitchen Company enough – in fact, we’ve already convinced some friends to use them! They understood exactly what we wanted from our kitchen and they were incredibly helpful, friendly and responsive at every step of the process. The workmanship is second to none, so is the value for money. There is no substitute for solid wood with properly made joints. It looks, feels, sounds and smells better – and that’s something you cannot get with MDF or replacement kitchen fronts. The bones of a kitchen need to be right, and that’s something The White Kitchen Company absolutely nails. We adore our new kitchen and it brings us joy every single day. It’s a space that not only looks beautiful but works for how we live. Thank you so much!”
