Traditional Kitchens

traditional kitchens

Traditional kitchen features from throughout the years never seem to fade too far from the spotlight in the kitchen design world. We are seeing now, more than ever, these traditional elements from previous decades becoming staples in every kitchen design we see today.

Most commonly, our Shaker and Period English ranges are chosen by homeowners as the simplistic, traditional elements within the design allow for the kitchen to always be a timeless classic, no matter what trends pass by. The White Kitchen Company continue a tradition of high-quality carpentry, giving the highest strength to our units so we can ensure they are made to last a lifetime.

Cabinets can be styled to look classic or have a modern touch with a change in handles or finish. This can also be achieved by mix-and-matching different ranges together. We often see traditional kitchens incorporating flat-fronted drawers; this brings a more contemporary feel to the design.

Your kitchen needs to reflect who you are as a person and as a family, so it is essential that each kitchen we make fits in with your lifestyle and is most valuable to you. No two kitchens are ever the same, and we vow to work with our clients to create only the best bespoke solutions. It is also essential to some that their kitchen matches the period in which their home was built. Grade-listed buildings and homes with historical significance can require specific cabinetry and fitting. We have worked around awkward columns, walls, and dado rails to make the most out of the kitchen, adhering to restrictions.

All our units are made from solid wood. Our cabinet makers use traditional construction techniques, which include mortise and tenon, and dovetailed joint methods. We use top-quality solid brass butt hinges, which are rebated into the door so they will not drop over time. These are available in three finishes: chrome, brass and antique brass. All units from The White Kitchen Company are in-frame, meaning the doors are fitted inside the cabinet. All drawers have strong, hidden, soft close runners with a quick-release mechanism for easy cleaning.

Solid wood is not only resilient but remarkably flexible. Cabinets are the workhorse of any kitchen and will usually require the most significant financial outlay. Whether you decide to update your colour scheme and hardware every so often with the changing trends, cabinets are the most critical area to invest in and should be built to stand the test of time.

All of our natural wood kitchens are delivered as pre-made units. There are no drawers to build or doors to hang; just fix the units together. Our in-house team are on hand to offer their advice to you and talk through your kitchen needs from start to finish.
