Bespoke Kitchen in Oakham
Project
This beautiful room in a lovely 18th-century house in Oakham was transformed from a dark repressive place into a vibrant living space for all the family to enjoy. The kitchen originally had dark wooden walls and floor cupboards with tiled worktops and dark slate flooring, all housed in one corner of the room, while a peninsula separated it from a dull eating area.
Now, an induction hob with integrated extraction sits perfectly on a long island painted in Farrow and Ball Downpipe; housing cupboards for oils, herbs and spices, a small drinks fridge, drawers for cutlery and pans, and a seated area to sit chat and have drinks whilst cooking. Painted in Farrow and Ball Pavilion Grey the fridge and oven surround, with pull-out cupboards and bookcases on the end, runs nicely down the length of the room to the pantry cupboard, where a coffee machine is neatly stored on the worktop behind closed doors. The Range cooker sits between pan and utensil drawers on soft close runners, enabling easy access and finishing with a larder cupboard before entering the utility room with matching cupboards.
Our clients decided to open up the room even further by removing two windows, leaving entrances into a comfortable seating area and dining room with a tall oak dresser on the end wall and bi-fold doors running the fall length of the dining room, looking out onto the garden. Egyptian tumbled limestone runs through the kitchen and dining room, enhancing the flow of space and completing the aesthetics of this wonderful kitchen.
