Brampton Shaker Kitchen

Project

Nick and Natalia wanted to renovate their kitchen in Northampton, to create a new space incorporating symmetry and clean lines. After removing a wall to create a large open-plan kitchen diner, the space changed dramatically, giving it a much more sociable feel.

Planning and layout – We had multiple discussions looking at potential kitchen layouts before a decision was made. The microwave was positioned on the island to deliver clean lines across the run of units. We also fitted the fridge freezer to sit flush with the cabinetry so that it didn’t overpower the space, giving it a smooth and effortless look. The pantry cupboard, where mugs and glasses are stored, sits over a triple drawer base which is the same width. This maintains that symmetry that is so pleasing to the eye, giving the feeling of an in-built Welsh dresser at the same time. The hot water tap at the sink is close by, and the wine cooler is just below. This provides a practical workspace with everything in close reach. The sink was positioned centrally to the window to offer great views of the garden. The dishwasher is to the right and the towel rail and integrated bins are to the left. A mixture of induction and gas on the hobs appeal to a range of cooking styles making the kitchen a culinary dream!

Colour scheme –Most of the units are painted in Farrow and Ball (F&B) Purbeck Stone, but we settled on a deeper colour (F&B Inchyra Blue) for the island. This was followed through to the utility room for continuity.

What our clients said –The outcome delivers the symmetric entertaining space that they had dreamed of. Natalia said: “We are so pleased with the final look of our new shaker kitchen and living space. It more than delivers on our wish list and gives us brilliant hidden storage space and an effortless kitchen to entertain in.”
